A Win for Our Local Food Bank!
Martin & Helms recently participated in the 5th Alabama Legal Food Frenzy, a friendly competition between law firms and legal organizations for who could raise the most money to benefit local food banks. As regular supporters of the Food Bank of North Alabama, we were excited to participate in this year’s event. We encouraged everyone on our staff to help us “win,” because we knew it would help the food bank.
And boy, did our team come through!
Martin & Helms was named the 2020 winner of the Attorney General’s Cup after donating 15,000 meals – 3,750 per employee – to the Food Bank of North Alabama. We were also named the winner in our category of small law firms.
We are so very proud of what we have accomplished here – not because we “won,” but because the Food Bank of North Alabama won. As many of us know, local food banks and pantries have been struggling through the pandemic. Not only are more people using them, but their regular army of volunteers has been diminished because of shelter-in-place orders, and many have been dealing with breaks in the supply chain as well as fewer donations.
Being able to help our local food bank and food pantries means we could help out community, and give back to those who have supported us for so many years. It really was an honor to participate: a fun honor, but an honor, nonetheless.
